Tashi Namgay Resort

Location : Paro Rating :

The resort is set amidst five acres of lush foliage and green lawns. Located conveniently in the heart of Paro but away from the distractions of the main town, Tashi Namgay Resort offers you a calm and peaceful environment within a five-acre compound. Unique blends of traditional Bhutanese and modern architecture have been provided for, yet at the same time offering you all the amenities of a modern lifestyle. The concern for the environment has been foremost in the design as is evident from the layout of the buildings, the use of solar lights, wooden ?shingle? roofing and mud-brick walls.

Tashi Namgay Resort is an ideal resort for vacationers looking for a calm and relaxing resort that offers an authentic Bhutanese ambience along with all the comforts of a modern resort.

Decent new place with enthusiastic youg team

I stayed at this hotel for five nights in October of 2010. The hotel appeared to have opened recently and some of the buildings were still under construction. The room I stayed had two double beds and was quite big and spacious. This hotel had a young manager and she had a young enthusiastic team working under her. The only thing that need a little work was the bathroom in my room. Some of the tile work seemed to have been hastily put together(guess they were rushing to open this before the peak season) and show curtain was hung one feet of the ground allowing the water to soak the entire bathroom floor every time I took a show. However I am sure that most of these problems are probably now that the hotel has been open for a while.

spacious rooms, ligting could be better

During my recent trip to Bhutan, I stayed at the Tashi Namgay Resort quite near the Paro airport. Removed from the busy town of Paro, it is located in a beautiful valley and is peaceful and quiet, with lovely views of the surrounding mountains and Pai Chu river. I was always happy to return there after a busy day of touring.

I found the hotel?s traditional Bhutanese architecture very attractive as well as the furnishings and décor in the spacious rooms although the lighting there was quite dim. Although there was no central heating, the hotel provided us with a space heater which kept the room adequately warm during the night.

The staff was excellent in every way, always helpful and good-natured. Although they provided ?international cuisine?, perhaps trying to cater to Western dietary habits, I found the meals unexceptional and would have preferred more traditional Bhutanese cuisine.

I enjoyed browsing in the shop located in the main lobby which offered local handicrafts, and I purchased several things. There is even a spa and gymn in the hotel which friends told me were quite nice.

I hope one day to return to the magical kingdom of Bhutan and will definitely want to stay again at the Tashi Namgay Resort.
